If you have never heard of it you need to give it a try. I cannot speak highly enough of it and its ability to make rust rock hard. That being said you need to do a lot of prep work with it. I use angle grinder with sanding discs to remove rust, then clean the area and spray with POR-15's metal prep, then follow it up with POR-15 paint.
Here is what it looks like on my interior floor of my van:
Before:
and after:
I learned quickly though that the paint will fade in sunlight (UV), so if it is going to be exposed to UV light you need to coat it with another paint. If it is going on the underside of a vehicle or under a floor (like mine was) then you do not need to coat it.
Before I could head onto insulation I had to fix some rust issues on the door panels.
I also had some issues along the rear door seal where it and rusted through. Its hard to see in this picture, but I punched out a bunch of rust and welded in a new metal lip and then used epoxy to seal it all up. Finished it all up with POR15.
As is an issue with many T1N Sprinters, my roof seal/seams were rusted. So after making sure all leaks were sealed (Self-Leveling Lap Sealer on the roof) I removed all the rust and POR15'ed the seams. Turned out real well.
